Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026 · English
This policy covers the Bookmark Guard Chrome extension and its purchase website at bookmarkguard.pages.dev. You do not create a separate Bookmark Guard account.
Bookmark matching and deletion run in your browser. The extension does not send bookmark titles, URLs, rules or deletion logs to us, Paddle or the website. Visiting the website and making a purchase involve separate network and payment processing described below.
1. Bookmark data and settings
The extension reads bookmark titles and URLs to find the words you have configured and delete matching bookmarks. When you use “Add current site,” it reads the active tab's address and adds its domain to your rules.
Your rules, automatic-check setting, language, deletion count, deletion logs and last scan results are stored in the extension's local browser storage. Logs and scan results can include bookmark titles, URLs, matched rules, times and error information. Up to 200 log entries are retained; the latest scan also stores a limited set of samples and matches. This information supports the features and diagnostic display inside the extension.
Bookmark Guard does not upload this information or maintain a server copy of your bookmarks. Chrome's own bookmark synchronization, if enabled, is controlled by your browser settings and is separate from the extension.
2. Connecting the extension to checkout
When you choose to purchase, the extension opens the purchase website with its extension application ID, a randomly generated session value, a random nonce and your selected language in the URL fragment (the part after “#”). The application ID identifies the extension, not your physical computer. The fragment is read by the page's JavaScript and removed from the address bar; it is not included in the ordinary HTTP request for the page.
The page exchanges the session values with the extension to connect the purchase to the initiating browser tab. It sends the session and nonce to Paddle as checkout custom data, together with the chosen price, quantity and checkout language. A pending purchase record in extension storage includes these connection values, the tab ID, product and price IDs, environment and an expiration time. Sessions are accepted for one hour; an expired record may remain locally until it is replaced, canceled, completed or the extension's data is cleared.
3. Paddle payments and purchase records
Paddle provides checkout and processes the information needed to make a purchase, which may include your email address, billing details, payment information, IP address and device or browser information. Paddle may use cookies or similar technology for its checkout. Its handling, retention and privacy-request options are described in the Paddle Privacy Policy.
Our purchase page receives the checkout completion event and passes the transaction ID, product and price IDs, payment status, quantity, currency and amount information to the extension for its purchase checks. The extension retains only a local purchase flag, transaction ID, timestamp, environment, product and price IDs, extension ID and record-format version. It does not store your card details, customer email or the complete checkout event.
Paddle retains payment records under its own policies and legal requirements. The seller may access purchase and customer information made available through Paddle for purchase support and administration. This extension has no separate customer database or account-based purchase recovery service.
4. Website preferences and Cloudflare hosting
The website stores your selected language in your browser's localStorage. Bookmark Guard's own website code does not add advertising or analytics trackers. This does not mean that website and checkout providers process no data.
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare handles requests to deliver and protect the site and may process IP addresses, request and traffic information, and browser or system information. Its services may make request logs or statistics available to the site operator, depending on configuration. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Hosting and payment providers may process data in other countries under their respective policies.
5. Retention, deletion and recovery limits
- You can remove individual rules and clear the deletion log using the extension's controls. Clearing the log also resets the deletion count, but it does not clear the last scan's samples or your purchase record.
- Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension storage, including settings, scan results and purchase data. This does not restore bookmarks that have already been deleted. Bookmark Guard has no undo or bookmark recovery feature.
- Purchase access depends on local data in the particular browser installation/profile. Clearing that data, uninstalling the extension, resetting the profile or formatting the computer can remove access. There is no automatic purchase restoration or account recovery. A browser profile is not a reliably enforced physical-computer identity.
- You can remove the website's saved language by clearing site data for bookmarkguard.pages.dev in your browser. This is separate from the extension's storage and from Paddle's records.
- Local settings and purchase records remain until they are changed or removed as described above. Deleting local data does not delete payment or hosting records held by Paddle or Cloudflare. Their retention and request procedures are governed by their own policies.
6. Questions and privacy requests
